If you are having recurring startup problems and Windows hasn't offered to do a disk check, then force it to do one like this.

Firstly hold down the "windows" key and press r

 

This will bring up a command box like this.

 

 

 

Type in as in the picture "chkdsk C:/f" without quotes you will then see this response. I forgot to add f in my first attempt and you can see.

 

 

 

Do no more than press the "y" key press return/enter and then type exit, this will close the command box.
But next time you start up you will be asked if you like to complete a disk check.

Don't press any keys and let it run, it only take 5 minutes or so and will tell you of any errors corrected.
